The Sukhothai Shanghai comprises 170 tastefully - designed guest rooms and 31 residence - style suites from 44 to 172 square - metres, among the largest in the city.  LEED accredited, guest rooms are fitted with diatom - silica clay walls in soothing neutral hues, the innovative, environmentally - friendly material is highly effective in air purification, humidity regulation and sound absorption to ensure a healthy and peaceful stay.  All guest rooms and suites are also appointed with a spacious bathroom, amenities from Australian organic brand Grown Alchemist, 55” or 65” high - definition television with Sonos sound bar and on - demand access to an array of media and infotainment content through IPTV and satellite TV. Thoughtful extras such as advanced in - room control technology with intuitive interface, wireless high - speed internet connection, and in - room refreshment and wine bar complete the exquisite and inviting spaces. Each suite is equipped with a Himalayan crystal salt lamp, which emits a warm and soft light, neutralizes ions and purifies the air, absorbs moisture in the air, while improving sleep and relaxing the body and mind at the same time. Vibrant and eclectic, The Sukhothai Shanghai’s five inspiring dining venues are poised to become the city’s dining destinations.  The ZUK Bar, a cosy boutique bar with an outdoor garden terrace is the best location to enjoy Mediterranean delights and artisanal cocktails with intriguing elixirs house - made by mixologists.  

Listed as Michelin Shanghai Guide Plate Restaurant for two consecutive years since 2020, and selected as Black Pearl One Diamond restaurant in 2022, inspired by Italian Renaissance gardens, La Scala is taken from Italian opera, presented by Neri & Hu Design and Research Studio through teakwood parquet flooring, hand-glazed ceramic tiles, and hanging lights, taking you back to a romantic, exquisite era. The chef team injects Italian humor and enthusiasm into La Scala, presenting an authentic gourmet for everyone to experience a feast on the tip of tongue.

URBAN Lounge brings together more than 350 types of gin and herbal drinks from all over the world. To further facilitate the diverse expression of gin culture through creativity, By introducing Juniper Empire, URBAN Lounge rolls out one gin brand from a different region each month, regularly holds gin nights and gin master classes, and prepares imperial passports for gin lovers around the world. Every glass of gin consumed, gets a passport stamp, and every 10 stamps can redeem a glass of designated gin.

Lively and buzzing, the award - winning URBAN Café serves authentic Thai fare. Thai chef Anchalee Luadkham was born into a culinary family in Chiang Mai, offering vibrant energy to URBAN Café through authentic Thai delicacies. The outdoor terrace of URBAN Café is connected to the Sukhothai Garden, where guests can enjoy Mediterranean delights and artisan cocktails at The ZUK Bar throughout days and nights.

Beans & Grapes serves light and healthy options as well as freshly made delicious pastries. It accommodates 40 seats and provides a variety of breads, cakes, cookies, coffee and drinks. Carefully selected ingredients, supplemented by ingenious craftsmanship, are low in sugar and salt, with zero additives and zero preservatives in each serving, offering a natural and good taste.

Inspired Venue

The second floor is home to the Grand Shanghai Ballroom, along with six multi-purpose function rooms, spanning a spacious 450 square metres. Crafted for exquisite social and corporate events, conferences and exhibitions, the meeting facilities are equipped with high-definition widescreen displays, full-range quality acoustics and lighting effects, all efficiently operated from an intelligent iPad master control. The Pantry is a communal space for the event delegates to relax and socialise during refreshment breaks.

Well-being

The health and wellness facilities include a 198 - square - metre Fitness Studio complete with state - of - the - art equipment and a separate studio for yoga, Pilates and group exercise. Guests can also take advantage of the 25 - metre heated indoor pool, sauna and steam room. The Retreat offers a range of Southeast Asian spa therapies and signature wellness programmes. Including yoga, meditation, pilates or group trainings. The design of The Retreat aims to create an urban oasis in the city's concrete jungle, creating a rejuvenated space in a mysterious cave, where one can find harmony and serenity from the hustle and bustle of the city. 

Aesthetic Space

Art appears and flows through various spaces at The Sukhothai Shanghai. Walking freely through “Four Seasons, a 1000 Years Terraced Rice Fields -  Tashibunosho" (interactive digital imaging art by Japanese teamLab team) located in the lobby on the first floor, The scenery of Tashibunosho has remained for thousands of years. It is depicted here through the lives of the people who continue to live in the harmony with nature in this perpectual landscape. "Every moment is present and fleeting; every moment is a gift of life, good or bad."

“Flowers and People” (interactive digital imaging art by Japanese teamLab team) is located in the corridor on the first floor, created by a computer program that continuously renders the work in real time, the flowers are born, bloom, then in the course of time they wither, carrying frames that keep developing.

Next to La Scala on the lobby, “Fountain” (Seon-Ghi Bahk, Korea) depicts the moment when the waterfall cascades down and stop in the mid - air. This artwork invites an invigorating and thought - provoking atmosphere, perfectly interprets the dynamic beauty of the waterfall flowing into the spring, hiding eternity in a moment.

Located on the side of the passenger elevator on the first floor, it’s hard to miss the charm of “Layers of Tranquility” , radiating like an elegant crystal orb akin to raindrops on glass, this magical artwork shows time and puts the chaos of city life at a halt. 

The iconic masterpiece located in La Scala, this artwork from Christian de Laubadére, depicts the dramatic tension of the characters, transporting you from the oriental aesthetics of Shanghai to the lively carnivals in Venice.
